                                                    My Story

I learned a lot in my 15 years as a family child care provider. I learned that my work is important and I have a huge impact on the children and families I serve.I also learned that being a life long learner and having a willingness to take risks is necessary for continuous

improvement- improving myself as a professional and the quality of my early care and education program.

In working with multiple providers over the years, many shared my passion for family child care. I also saw                                                               similar experiences as they gained more confidence and self-efficacy in their main roles as a provider,                                                                       including that of a business owner & administrator of their program, an early childhood teacher, and a                                                                        resource  and advocate.

I followed a group of providers over a three year period, documenting their growth in self-efficacy and how                                                             their practice transformed over time as I served as their technical assistant. I realized that we all followed                                                                a similar path in our professional journeys as we strived to improve our practice. From my experiences and                                                               research, I created a framework for identifying supports that were critical along the way and now hope to                                                     support other providers so that they can also strengthen self-efficacy, transform practice and experience success in this wonderful profession.
